New Arts site for Wales

After many years of listening and working in the arts community in Wales, getting involved in community groups such as the Abergavenny Theatre Group I have decided that it is about time that I set up an Arts Website for Artists, arts professionals, and people generally interested in arts. So ... after many months of work and several years of research - the site is up and functioning.

The response has been fantastic from the select few who have been invited to view the site - after final tweakings and fiddlings with categories and funcionality - the site will be publicised to all and sundry.

At the moment it is free to join - but it won't be for long.

don't forget to sign up for the free newsletter which will be launched shortly.

Go to Arts-Wales.co.uk - register and then tell us about all your interests in the arts.

"Much Ado About Nothing" - A Great Success

The Abergavenny Theatre Group displayed tremendous vigour and professionalism in their production of Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy ‘Much Ado About Nothing’. If you didn’t go – you missed a real treat! Make sure you don't miss any of their productions in the future!

A challenge for the best of acting teams at the best of times so to succeed in putting on a believable performance is triumph indeed. Without changing the colourful characteristics of the performers, the audience were transported to a vivid world full of intrigue and humour. Effective set design, evocative music, interesting costumes and above all – the enthusiastic acting of the performers made for an excellent evening of entertainment.

Abergavenny’s theatre and the local theatrical groups are vital assets to the local community. Where else can you see the colour of the community spirit in such an entertaining way? I am sure that there are many tourists whose travelling experiences have been enriched by joining the throngs of regular theatre goers. I am sure too that many citizens of Abergavenny and its environs can benefit from joining a social gathering with a purpose. We all need to get out sometime! And what a great excuse – supporting the artistic attributes of Abergavenny’s artistes!

It has to be said that there is something for everyone and I am glad to see that there is certainly plenty of encouragement for anyone who has any fantasies about being in the limelight whatever your profession, age or background, which is what makes this group so valuable! Allowing the heart of the individual to show its true colours makes every production unique and as such every member has a valid and valuable contribution to make. Fancy becoming a member either to work on or off stage? Then please get in touch and we will forward membership details to you.

Future performances include ‘Sex and the Silver Surfers’ written by one of the members Don Balkwill. 30th July – One night only! Book early and arrive early – latecomers will not get a chance to sneak in as this performance is being recorded. Click on the Abergavenny Theatre link to go straight to their box office! The performance is on during the Abergavenny Arts Festival. Click on the Abergavenny Arts Festival link to see What’s On.
